Who is Ellison Park named after?
Nathaniel B. Ellison
Ellison promised a total of 470 acres to Monroe County to be turned into a park in memory of his father, Nathaniel B. Ellison. During Christmas, 1926, 220 acres became the first unit of the Monroe County Parks System.

Registraion is open during regular business hours, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Mondays through Fridays (excluding Holidays). Extended application dates begin on October 1st.

Where to get a park permit in Monroe MI?
We start taking reservations for parks on March 1st. You may come into the Monroe County Finance Department, 2nd Floor at 125 E Second St., Monroe, MI 48161 to make your reservation. It is on a first come first serve basis. A fee of $30.00 is required to reserve a pavilion and you will receive a permit for that pavilion.
