Currently the Metropolitan line ends at Watford station. The plans propose closing this station, and building an extension which would go to Watford Junction instead, via a number of new stations. The spur of the line from Croxley to the current Watford station would shut down.

Why was Croxley Green station closed?
The platform and track-level buildings at Croxley Green station were destroyed by fire in March 1913 leaving only the street level booking office and the covered stairway. The station was quickly rebuilt and the service reinstated. The fire was blamed on militant suffragettes.
